Heart rate
Sampled continuously rather than at the round. Every reading builds the personal baseline the rest of the system is judged against.
Heart rate variability
The spacing between beats. It tends to move while a person still looks and feels well.
Blood oxygen
SpO₂ through the day and across the night, when nobody is in the room.
Skin temperature
Compared against this resident’s own baseline, so a small persistent shift is visible instead of being averaged away.
Sleep

Why a band, not a ring.
Form factor is a care decision before it is a hardware one. What matters is not how elegant a device looks in a photograph — it is whether it is still on the resident in month six.

Hands swell. Arthritis changes what a person can get on and off. A band adjusts to that. A ring has to be sized per resident and stops fitting the week their fingers change.

It goes on and comes off inside the washing and dressing routine your staff already run, and wipes down with everything else in it.

A wrist gives the optical window a flat, still surface to read through, and room beside it for the charging contacts. A finger offers neither, and never stops moving.

One button on the side of the module, and what it does is a setting rather than a fixture. Configure it per home: a call for assistance, a check-in the resident confirms themselves, or a marker staff press when something happens that the vitals alone would not explain. A ring has no room for a control a person can find without looking.
